Congratulations to Marlo Beaton, winner of our draw for a beautiful bouquet from Paulina’s Flower Shoppe. Thank you to all of the women who have shared their thoughts about what the #empowermentofwomen means to them.

Enjoy some of the special thoughts shared by women in Sarnia-Lambton, as well as our partners in Haiti. Their words inspire, but also remind us that there is lot of work left to do.

“Women’s empowerment is having the tools to contribute to society and know that your voice is being heard.

– Piera

“Women’s empowerment to me means that all women, throughout the world and in all forms, are celebrated and embraced for who they are.”

– Lindsey

“It’s that chance, it’s that first chance…that unlocking the potential in all women.”

– Rhonda

“As women we should feel important…we would like our rights to be respected, and to be given the value that we deserve.”

– Magdala

Every year on Int’l Women’s Day, our partners in Haiti and the Dominican Republic host special events to celebrate. They sure know how to party!

Celebrations in Cap Haitian, Haiti:

Participants from the Centre for Nutrition and Education of Women & Children (C-NEW-C) are enjoying the very powerful motivational speaker who is sharing about the empowerment of women in Haiti. They’re also sharing a training on awareness and prevention of domestic violence and gender-based abuse. And let’s not forget the dancing, singing, and sharing of one another’s testimonies. Go ladies, go!

Special thanks to Paulina’s Flower Shoppe for helping us spread encouragement, awareness, and joy on this International Women’s Day.
