Work trips are held very infrequently and only when one of Rayjon’s partners in Haiti or Dominican Republic request assistance. These requests are submitted to the Rayjon Board for approval. If the request is approved and funding for materials is obtained, a recruitment process begins to match skills to the specific project requirements. One of the goals for these projects is to transfer knowledge and skills to the members of the host community.
RAYJON’s partners drive the work trips. We don’t impose ourselves on our partners. We engage our Haitian and Dominican Republic partners to determine what they want and what they will support. “Give a person a fish, feed them for a day. Teach them how to fish, feed them for a lifetime.”
