It is with immense sadness that we share news of John Barnfield’s death.
At the same time, it is with deep gratitude that we celebrate John’s life and his unwavering commitment to Rayjon’s work in Haiti and the Dominican Republic over the past 39 years, as co-founder and President of Rayjon Share Care Sarnia Inc.
John built friendships, connections and partnerships, beginning in Sarnia Lambton and branching out, to make a positive difference in the quality of life of thousands of Haitians, Dominicans of Haitian descent, and at home in Sarnia Lambton. Through leading countless trips over the years, he brought the realities of Haiti and the Dominican Republic to many, inspiring all of us to reflect on our roles as global citizens.
He is an example to all, of how one person can make a difference, by sharing and caring, touching the lives of so many, one person at a time.
This quote by Martin Luther King reflects John’s vision and the principles on which Rayjon was built—justice, equality, and the belief in a better world, even when fully achieving it may seem out of reach:
“I have the audacity to believe that people everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality, and freedom for their spirits.”
