From start to finish the Tapestry 2030 podcast series was all about collaboration with our partners. Illustrator Amanda Schutz created this beautiful depiction of the Barrio 41 neighbourhood, incorporating feedback from our Dominican partners. The dove and bright Dominincan sunshine are motifs used by our partners at PLADESCULBA to convey joy and hope. The oxen and driver leading a sugar cane cart are symbolic of the strength and courage (in the face of much injustice and persecution) of the many Haitian families who came to this neighbourhood seeking a better life for their families. The “tapestry threads” woven through the background remind us that we are connected.

If you haven’t already, please go back and listen to Season 1! In Episode &: Haitian Women in the Lead, we are in conversation with leaders of the grassroots Haitian Women’s Federation as they share their vision of for a cooperative breadfruit processing factor and sustainable tree nursery in Haut de St. Marc, Haiti.
