We are so proud to share this story from the University of Toronto’s Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, featuring our very own Rayjon Eyeglass Team member Dr. Christian Anderson.
Dr. Anderson was a recipient of Rayjon’s Recent Grad Award, which is designed to support newly graduated optometrists and opticians in joining one of our eyeglass trips by covering all trip expenses. It is one of the ways Rayjon invests in emerging eye care professionals who are passionate about bringing vision care to underserved communities. Dr. Anderson is a wonderful example of exactly the kind of impact we hoped that award would make.
In November 2025, Dr. Anderson joined the Rayjon team for an eyeglass clinic in the Dominican Republic alongside fellow team members including Kobe Li, another outstanding young leader who has been a dedicated contributor to the eyeglass program. Together, this incredible team provided free eye exams and glasses to nearly 500 members of Batey communities. We are so proud of the work they do and the heart they bring to it.
Rayjon’s Eyeglass Program has been running since 1993. Since then, our teams have provided vision examinations for over 27,000 patients and eyeglasses for over 21,000 people across 9 countries. Clinics are organized each year in partnership with local hosts, and our teams are made up of optometrists, opticians, and trained volunteers who give their time to make each clinic possible.
